- Setting: Bezel
- Chain: Cable, adjustable from 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 inches
- Made: In the USA
- Returns: Eligible under our return policy (stock design, never engraved or sized)
The stone
Sapphire is corundum, the same mineral as ruby; blue sapphire owes its color to traces of iron and titanium. For centuries it has been associated with wisdom and loyalty, and it remains a favorite for engagement rings. More in our gemologist’s guide to the twelve birthstones.
A gemologist’s note
Sapphire is a 9 on the hardness scale, second only to diamond, which makes it one of the most practical stones to wear daily. The lab-grown stone has the same chemistry, hardness and blue as a mined sapphire. It uses the same stone as our September birthstone charm and necklace, so the pieces can be worn as a set.
Care
Sapphire is a 9 on the hardness scale. Bracelets take more knocks than necklaces, so take it off for workouts, housework and swimming. Polish with a soft jewelry cloth.
