The symbol

Pisces is a mutable water sign ruled traditionally by Jupiter and in modern astrology by Neptune. Its glyph traces two fish bound by a thread, swimming in opposite directions, derived from the Greek myth of Aphrodite and Eros transforming into fish to flee the monster Typhon. Born between February 19 and March 20, Pisces closes the zodiac cycle, the threshold before spring renews everything. Across traditions Pisces has been associated with empathy, imagination, spiritual depth, and the dissolution of self that precedes any true new beginning.

About this stone

The Mozambique garnet variety set in this pendant is a pyrope-almandine blend, two of the six garnet species in solid solution, whose deep ruby color comes from trace iron and chromium. Garnet has been worn for nearly 5,000 years, with the oldest known jewelry dating to a Sumerian necklace from around 3100 BC. The name comes from the Latin granatum, meaning pomegranate seed, for the deep red of the most familiar variety. Mozambique production began commercially in the late twentieth century from alluvial deposits in the country's northeast. The stone is 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, durable for daily wear. Curated by a certified gemologist.

Care and wear

Garnet is durable enough for daily wear. Remove before swimming in chlorinated pools or applying lotion. Clean with mild soap and warm water, dried with a soft cloth.
