The symbol

The evil eye, or nazar, is among the oldest symbols in jewelry, worn across the ancient Mediterranean and Middle East and long associated with turning away envy. A gemologist’s note

Most evil eye jewelry uses blue glass or enamel. Our gemologist wanted a version with a real stone, so this one centers natural turquoise, a copper-bearing mineral, framed in gold with tiny natural diamonds.

Care

Turquoise is porous and soft, 5 to 6 on the hardness scale. Keep it away from lotion, perfume and water, and wipe it with a dry, soft cloth.
