The design

A cable chain is one of the simplest and most durable chain styles: oval links joined one to the next. Diamond-cutting adds tiny flat facets to the links so a fine chain catches light like a much heavier one. More in our guide to mixing and layering metals.

A gemologist’s note

A good chain is the piece of jewelry people wear most and think about least. Our gemologist chose a lobster clasp over the more common spring ring because it is easier to open with one hand and more secure.
